I can’t tell you how excited we are to be opening up for the Dharma Bums and the Young Fresh Fellows at the crystal ballroom. This is the Dharma Bums first show in 18 years! I”m really looking forward to seeing them along with the YFF rock it. We’re truly honored to be asked to play. It’s gonna be an amazing night and we’d love to have you all join in the festivities.

Derby @ the Aladdin Theater FEB 5th

Hi there.

This Friday night, Feb. 5th, Derby will be performing at the Aladdin Theater in Portland, OR.

We’ll be opening for the Crazy 8’s, and the show is being filmed for an upcoming television series by Front Row. So, if you feel like you’ve got a little extra woot woot or yehaaa in you, come to the show and capture it on film.

This show is a little earlier than usual, doors at 7pm, and we’ll be playing at 8pm. More good news is that the show is all-ages (minors accompanied by parent) according to the Aladdin.

Lastly, we are very excited to perform as a 5-piece. We have the super-talented Matt C. on keys, and it has really revolutionized our sound. It has overthrown the tonal governing body of the derby rock sound, and marshal law has been declared in derbyville. It might be ruthless, it might be dangerous, but most importantly, it is now packed full of awesomeness. So come join us this Friday at the Aladdin, and we will do our best sock-rockin.’

Derby 1/20/10 update

Old Church photo taken by the wonderful Amy Seeley. Thanks to everyone that was able to make it out. I’ve been a huge fan of dolorean since moving to Portland over 8 years ago. They make beautiful music that I truly love to listen to. It was fun to share the stage with them and Rachel Taylor Brown (what a voice). Thanks again to Matt Casebeer and Rian Lewis for playing. It was wonderful to hear Matt play keys and have Rian on pedal steel. We’re currently putting the finishing touches on 4 new songs recorded at the Secret Society and planning on a spring release. Creeping_Climbing, Madaline, One’s a lonely one and Don’t believe in you.

Notes: Intown Church and Portland City Art Present: An Art Happening WORKS V is an annual art exhibition/event produced by Intown Church and Portland City Art http://www.portlandcityart.org/. This will be Intown Church’s fifth year hosting the event and our first year partnering with Portland City Art, a non-profit organization dedicated to serving and promoting local artists. The focus of the evening will be celebrating the incredible and diverse art and culture our city has to offer. It will feature a curated gallery of up to 20 incredibly talented local visual artists exhibiting and selling their painting, sculpture, photography, film, and fine crafts in the gothic atmosphere of The Old Church, one of Portland’s oldest buildings. Thanks to all for a wonderful night at Lolas. It was a pleasure to be involve with the MTH foundation and we had a blast. Next friday Nov 20th we’ll be playing at the Jupiter hotel. Please see below for more details. It looks to be a great night benefiting PDX’s P:EAR . P:EAR is a Portland-based association that mentors homeless youths in art and music. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased here It’s a fantastic cause and we’d love to see you. Supporting will be drew grow and the pastor wives and Westor Daywick.

This is an early version of “poSterS fade” and “only what She’s Selling”. We originally wanted to have The two tracks overlap and start the record. The Tempo is faster but has a pretty cool vibe. “only what she’s selling” changed quite alot. I always enjoy seeing how songs take shape and change so enjoy. The wonderful N8 Purscelley was so kind to play trumpet. N8 has a great band called Deepest Darkest. He writes fantastic music check it out here
