DERBY DOUG FIR SAT MAY 22nd

Hello hello.
Happy Spring to you. We are very excited to be performing for you this Saturday night, May 22nd at the Doug Fir! We will be joined by Portland’s uber cool Spy Island, and one of our favorite bands anywhere, (although specifically they are from Seattle) Slender Means. It’s been a while since we have headlined our own hand-picked Doug Fir show, so we’ve planned to make this a special night. For those of you who do not yet know, Derby has become a 5-piece. We’ve added the fast fingers (along with the entire body) of Matt C. on keys, which has freed up Dave to become a full time Shredder. And yes, that is a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reference. One day I’ll find a way to work in Krang. So come out and enjoy the new sophisticated sounds, along with two other fandamntastic bands. Spy Island will kick off the show, and Derby will headline.
We like to pack out the Doug Fir, so make it easy on yourself and buy tickets in advance. All of your friends are doing it. Just go the Doug Fir ticket window (only $8), or buy from TicketsWest: http://ev12.evenue.net/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/SEGetEventInfo?ticketCode=GS%3aTWS%3aPDFL10:PDFL0522%3a&linkID=twspok

Hola
hey there wonderful people,
So it’s weds the day for ST patties, a day of green beer and yahoos. Tonight we finally finish up our little micro ep sample city lp. Like most things it’s taken alittle longer than expected but I’m excited about how it’s turned out. We’ve got a few tracks ready to begin recording next and I promise you it wont take too long.
here are some things I’m excited about that I thought you might enjoy as well.
opb music–what a local radio station that plays local music? and oh my… you can stream it anywhere on the interwebs and iphono. OPB music is like KEXP on steriods. They play such good music and really try to mix in local pdx acts as well. Kudos OPBmusic Kudos.. So please go support them. Thank them…and try streaming them. We are so amazingly lucky to have a station like that in portland.

The morning benders “Big echo”… brooklyn via san fran band’s latest. I really enjoyed their last lp “Talking Through Tin Cans” and “big echo” is just fantastic. Please check them out. In fact they’ll be coming through portland in the next few weeks.

The Heligoats- “Mercury” and “Goodness Gracious” off of “Goodness Gracious”-which btw is a great song too.

So there you have it, a few things that make spring spring and me me. As always if you have questions, comments, jokes, life questions feel free to ask us. email us. or respond to this here blog. For instance “I was suprised at how small Nat was when I met him” or “why does Dave always wear tank tops?” or “Does isaac really have size 15 feet?” or “does ryan wines really like nachos?” (yep) or “Is Rian lewis’s middle Name “Noodles”?”…….I could go on and on…..
take care and happy spring spring.
